Other varieties that can be seen here include the monkey orchid, holy orchid, bug orchid and giant orchid - aptly named as it can grow up to half a metre tall. A visit to the herbarium at Alevkaya is one of the best places to see samples of orchids and other wild flora found here and organised walks are available during the cooler spring months. Of course the area is renowned for its citrus and other fruit trees, and the beginning of the summer is heralded by the sweet scent of lemon and orange blossom.
